Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2019
There is a principle above us, beyond our experience and our life: it is the common good. The good of the people.
It’s Christmas and I want to wholeheartedly wish a bright future, one as protagonists to all persons with disabilities and to their families, who would otherwise be forced to stand by and watch life as spectators and no longer (or never) as actors .
Merry Christmas and happy new year to all those wonderful people who, in recent years, have wanted to fight my battles along with me. Especially to my son, Alessandro, whose birthday is today. My commitment, training and travel doesn’t always allow me to spend as much time with him as I would like. Nevertheless, despite his young age, he proved to be a little wise man who’s extremely sensitive to the issues I’m promoting, and who has tried to be strong and supportive through all my difficulties. We adults should at least try to make this world better, and sometimes I get the feeling that it is precisely our children who can teach us how to accomplish this.
I want to wish a Merry Christmas and a bright year 2019, full of joy and great opportunities to all politicians around the globe, right, left and center, so that they can legislate and promote freedom, equality, respect and dignity and support and implement policies that can: improve the living conditions of people with disabilities and their families; make modern technology and innovation available to those who need it; provide society with the cultural tools which will make it inclusive and welcoming; tear down architectural, moral and psychological barriers, so that work, dignity, freedom and autonomy do not remain on paper but become a reality; create the conditions to make sure that progress and prosperity finally become shared values for all.
I want to wish Merry Christmas and a Happy 2019 to Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo, to Fondazione Don Gnocchi, to Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa, to Campus Bio Medico of Rome, to Centro Protesi INAIL of Budrio, to Massachusetts Institute of Technology of Boston, to Associazione Luca Coscioni, to Associazione Enrico Toti, to Elman srl, to Ortopedia Meridionale, and my farm Leonardo Company for their close support.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the population of Goma, Bukavu and the whole territory of North and South Kivu, where someone decided that there had to be a war, to those families who do not know their tomorrow, and when it will be possible to find peace and serenity. To those people who live daily with the constant fear of receiving bad news from one moment to another, to those who in practice do not live.
Finally, I want to wish Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2019 to the Circolo Canottieri Aniene and to the Fondazione Roma, whose joint support has made my dreams and propositions become real.
Best wishes,
Salvatore Cimmino
